This site is devoted to ideas to help improve the fundamentals of the City of Chicago.

A Bottom-Up approach to city management is more effective than a Top-Down methodology.

The Municipalities tend to add new infrastructure, but make no plans/accomodations to

a) maintain these new additions while b) can barely keep up with existing city maintenance.

Any successful endeavor is built from the Ground-Up, and maintaining a city is no exception.

The City of Chicago has slowly gone into a state of disrepair over the past few years.

Ignoring all of the small things can add up to big problems and small issues add up to big issues, if left unchecked, over time.

This site is devoted to fundamental improvement ideas centered around fundamental city maintenance.

Proposed Leaves Ordinance

This is a proposal to the City of Chicago to create ordinance regarding leaf removal from properties,

more importantly, the blowing of leaves from one’s property onto the city street.

311 System Changes

In utilizing the City of Chicago’s 311 system, it has been noticed that there there are deficiencies in the way the 311 system operates.

In that, some of the categories and functionality are irrelevant or functionalities haven’tt been updated in quite some time.

The 311 system needs to be overhauled.

Parking Meter Removal

LAZ Parking installed our digital meters over a decade ago, yet the old coin-operated parking meters still exist throughout the City of Chicago.

The original intent to keep these meters was for bike parking. Yet, over the past 10 years bike racks have become commonplace throughout the city. All the while the coin-operated parking meters have become irrelevant eyesores throughout the City of Chicago.

These coin-operated parking meters should be removed on a city-wide basis.

No Parking Signage

Throughout the City of Chicago, No Parking signs are placed in various public and private surfaces.

The issues are that the No Parking signage is a) never removed b) the materials used to affix the signage is never removed and/or c) the adhesive materials used damages the city property itself.

The City of Chicago needs to address this long standing issue to help alleviate the continued blight that this is causing the City of Chicago.

Illegal Postings

Over the past few years, the City of Chicago has gone into a state of disrepair as the proliferation of unlawful stickers, signs, postings have gone entirely unchecked.

The unchecked nature of the allowance and non-removal of unlawful postings has caused the city to come into a state of potentially irreversible blight.

The City of Chicago has a sign code ordinance that it is choosing to not enforce or has been deemed to be somehow ‘unenforceable’, adding to this ever multiplying blight.  Subsequently, the City of Chicago has chosen not to change the existing signage ordinance to become enforceable, and is additionally not following the rules associated in the Permitted use application.

This Ordinance needs to be enforced.

Streetlight Doors

Have you noticed an inordinate amount of street light doors that are missing throughout the City?

These doors have been missing, some for years, and represents a safety hazard to the residents of our Communities.

Political Signage

As we come into an Election year, the proliferation of political signage has become somewhat of a nuisance in the City of Chicago. Election signage is only allowed in / on certain areas of our Communities. However, signage in the City of Chicago doesn’t seem to follow any of the State rules.

This needs to change!
